Question 1

What is a Bear Watchlist in trading?

Accepted Answer

A Bear Watchlist is a curated list of stocks confirmed in bearish momentum, identified by technical indicators such as SCTR (StockCharts Technical Rank) falling below 4. These stocks show sustained selling pressure and are candidates for short-selling or put option strategies.

Question 2

What does SCTR < 4 mean for a stock?

Accepted Answer

SCTR (StockCharts Technical Rank) below 4 places a stock in the bottom 4% of all stocks by technical strength. It means the stock is underperforming on multiple timeframes — price momentum, relative strength, and trend indicators all point bearish. This is the bear zone in our system.

Question 3

What is a Strong Short signal?

Accepted Answer

A Strong Short signal (⚡) is triggered when Williams %R is ≤ −65 (price in the lower 35% of its 14-bar range) AND the closing price is below the 20-period Donchian midpoint. This confirms both momentum exhaustion and structural weakness — the bear-side equivalent of a Strong Entry.

Question 4

What is BEXH (Bear Exhaustion)?

Accepted Answer

BEXH stands for Bear Exhaustion — when the OEW (Orthodox Elliott Wave) bear counter reaches 9 or higher. At this level, selling campaigns often exhaust, making these stocks potential reversal or short-cover candidates. BEXH stocks appear in the 🔄 BEXH tab.

Question 5

How often is the Bear Watchlist updated?

Accepted Answer

The Bear Watchlist updates every 60 seconds from live market data. SCTR scores and bear counter values are computed from end-of-day prices and refresh each trading day after market close.

Question 6

How is this different from the Founders Watchlist?

Accepted Answer

The Founders Watchlist shows stocks in the SCTR "brewing zone" (4–9) — building momentum toward bull territory. The Bear Watchlist shows the opposite: confirmed bear territory (SCTR < 4) with active short campaigns. Together they cover both ends of the momentum spectrum.
